TheTimesCenter is available for public, private, nonprofit and corporate events. The Stage and the The Hall are priced and rented separately. Clients may choose to ‘buy out’ any portion of the venue they are not using for their event to ensure exclusive presence in TheTimesCenter. Otherwise, any portion of the venue not rented or held as a ‘buy out’ remains in our rental inventory and may be offered for rent to a separate event.

Rental rates are set as basic “four-wall” rentals and are hourly, based on a minimum of six hours of time. Nonprofit rates are available as are package discounts for renting both The Stage and The Hall and for multiple days. Rental rates do not include the cost of additional required services such as technical labor, front-of- house staff, security and custodial personnel. A formal quote prepared by TheTimesCenter sales manager will include estimates for each of these labor departments as well as use of internal audio/visual inventories (lighting, video and audio). In addition, any outsourced equipment rentals, box office/ticketing services, dock fees, etc. will be billed back to the renter. When booking your event at TheTimesCenter, it is important to inform the booking and production staff of your event’s timeline and technical needs in advance, in order for us to provide you with an accurate price quote.

TheTimesCenter is a state-of-the-art technical facility. The following links will provide a basic overview of the venue’s capabilities, technical gear and house rules. Please contact TheTimesCenter’s production staff for additional information at 212-556-4300.

Though TheTimesCenter has an extensive technical inventory that will fulfill the needs of most events, additional equipment may be rented from an approved TimesCenter A/V provider. After booking an event, users must coordinate with TheTimesCenter production manager to arrange and satisfy their technical needs and requirements.

TheTimesCenter is an ideal location for your catered event. The Hall has a catering staging area for banquets or receptions of any size and refreshments can be set up for events throughout the venue (note that only bottled water is allowed in The Stage’s seating area). TheTimesCenter provides catering services through a group of approved and reputable food service companies that have gone through a competitive selection process. Users wishing to have food and beverage services must enter into a separate agreement with one of the following approved caterers.

TimesCenter users must present evidence of host liquor liability insurance in advance of the event. Approved caterers must present evidence of liquor liability insurance. All alcoholic beverage services require approval by TimesCenter management and must be served by an approved TimesCenter caterer. Any donated alcohol must be coordinated directly with the caterer at their discretion and related charges.

Catering set-up and break-down time must be completed within the rental block as defined in the License Term of the Facility Use Agreement. Any early access to the venue or late exit from the venue that is outside of the License Term will result in additional staff and rental fees. TimesCenter rental users and their caterer MUST participate in a pre-event walk-through with TimesCenter staff at least five business days prior to the event. What’s the capacity of your spaces?

According to established fire code, the capacities are as follows:

TheStage/TheScreeningRoom: 378 people (NO STANDING ROOM PERMITTED).
TheHall: Maximum 390 people, dependent upon the nature of the event.
Lobby Spaces: Dependent upon the nature of the event.

What’s backstage? Do you have a greenroom or dressing rooms?

Rental of TheStage includes use of our Greenroom suite comprised of an 8' x 10' dressing room, one 8' x 10' workroom, private restroom and an 11' 9" x 18' 4" lounge located adjacent to stage left. The space is A.D.A. compliant, and amenities include lounge seating for 12, wet bar kitchenette, magnetic/dry-erase surface walls, two video monitors with audio and video playback from the stage, program countdown clock, charging ports and phone lines.

Do you have any special safety rules?

Yes. At no time and under no circumstances may users or their vendors block any fire doors, emergency exits or venue entrances.

In addition, users of The TimesCenter and their subcontractors are required to comply with all requirements of state and federal regulations, as well as ordinances and regulations of the City and County of New York, including Safety and Health, Fire and Life Safety and all other applicable laws.

Events may be subject to cancellation for noncompliance with codes.

Do you supply permits?

No, any permits necessary for an event’s code compliance are the SOLE responsibility of the user.

Is TheTimesCenter wheelchair accessible?

Access to all TimesCenter spaces is possible via a passenger elevator from the street level. Wheelchair-accessible seats in TheStage/TheScreeningRoom are located in Row D and in TheHall as determined by the user’s event setup. All TimesCenter restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

What accommodations do you make for those with hearing impairments?

TheTimesCenter’s Stage/Screening Room and Hall are equipped with induction loop (telecoil) technology for the benefit of hearing aid users, as well as conventional assistive listening systems for people with hearing impairments.

Do you supply technical staff? Are they part of a union?

All TimesCenter lighting, audio and video staff (a.k.a. technicians) are union positions hired and managed by TheTimesCenter. A minimum of four technicians is required for any event with a minimum work period of six hours per technician.

The total number of technicians and work hours is based on the scope and technical needs of each event as determined by TimesCenter management. All costs associated with these services will be included in the user’s invoice.

All TimesCenter users are required to use TimesCenter technicians.

Do you supply front-of-house staff?

TheTimesCenter front-of-house staff, comprised of house managers and ushers, are hired and managed by TheTimesCenter based on the scope and needs of each event. They facilitate guest way-finding, seating, coat check, oversee catering, security, custodial and facility operations as well as monitor the safety and well-being of all persons in TheTimesCenter

Front of house staffing levels will be determined by TimesCenter management on a per event basis. All costs associated with these services will be included in the user’s invoice.

All TimesCenter users are required to use TimesCenter front of house staff.

Do you supply security and cleaning services?

Basic security and custodial charges are included in all TimesCenter rental agreement invoices. As determined solely by TimesCenter management, however, extraordinary security needs or cleaning service needs will result in additional charges to the user.

Security and custodial staffing levels will be determined by TimesCenter management on a per event basis. All costs associated with these services will be included in the user’s invoice.

All TimesCenter users are required to use TimesCenter security and custodial services.

Can I bring in additional/private security personnel?

Yes. Just remember, all outside security services must be approved in advance and supply proper certificates of insurance to work in the venue.

Who can provide catering for my event?

Only caterers from TheTimesCenter’s list of approved caterers may be contracted to supply food and beverage services for events at TheTimesCenter. For a list of approved caterers, please click here or contact the sales manager.

Can I bring in outside caterers?

Can I serve alcohol?

All alcoholic beverage services require approval by TimesCenter management and must be served by an approved TimesCenter caterer. Any donated alcohol must be coordinated directly with the caterer at their discretion and related charges.

Will a catering walk through be provided before my event?

Yes. In fact, users MUST participate in a pre-event walk-through with their caterer and TimesCenter staff at least five business days prior to the event.

When can the caterers begin setting up? What about post-event breakdown?

Catering setup and breakdown times must be included within the user’s rental block as defined in the License Term of their rental agreement. Any early access to the venue OR late exit from the venue that is outside of the user’s License Term will result in additional TimesCenter staff and rental fees.

Do you provide marketing and publicity?

No. All TimesCenter users are responsible for promoting and publicizing their own events.

Can I bring in my own branding and signage?

Absolutely. Just remember, there are no hanging points in the TimesCenter lobby areas or TheHall, so all branding and signage in these areas must be freestanding or floor-based. All branding and signage to be hung in TheStage must be done by TimesCenter technical staff. All graphics and branding installations must be approved in advance by TimesCenter production staff.

Is coat check available?

A coat and bag checkroom is available for TimesCenter events as requested by the user. The checkroom is staffed by TimesCenter house managers and accepts coats, umbrellas, and other handheld items such as backpacks and small carry-on bags. Note that no food/beverage, personal transportation devices (folding bikes, skateboards, etc.), loose footwear, or other unsanitary items will be accepted in the checkroom.

Are there any other house policies I should be aware of?

Yes. There are three important things to note:

  1. Pursuant to New York City ordinances, TheTimesCenter is a nonsmoking venue.
  2. Other than bottled water, no food or beverages are allowed in TheStage.
  3. All TimesCenter facilities shall be restored to conditions found prior to use.
What is your nondiscrimination policy?

At TheTimesCenter, there shall be no discrimination against, nor segregation of, any person or group of persons on account of race, color, religion or creed, national origin or ancestry, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation, age, marital or domestic partner status, political affiliation or disability (including HIV or AIDS status) in the use or licensing of TheTimesCenter facilities, nor shall the user or any person claiming under or through the user, establish or permit any such practice or practices of discrimination or segregation with reference to the selection, location, number, use or occupancy of user, patrons, lessees or vendees of TheTimesCenter’s facilities or any parts thereof.
